The Givens Foundation  for African American Literature is dedicated to increasing cultural understanding and learning through programs that advance and celebrate African American literature and writers. 

We developed the Emerging Writers' Mentor Program to promote the “writing life,” the honing of literary craft, the production of new works, and professional development for participating writers.
